With P2 technology, the VariCam 2700 now records variable frame rates natively; each frame is stored without any pulldown or duplication. This allows for immediate playback of slow and fast motion footage and eliminates frame rate conversion in post. With five card slots and using the highest quality AVC-intra 100 codec, five 32G P2 cards will capture 400 minutes of 1080/24p material.
VariCam’s legendary Film-REC mode continues in the next-gen models, along with several additional gamma settings for even greater flexibility. The new Dynamic Range Stretcher reduces blocked shadows and blown highlights in scenes where bright and dark objects coexist, while Chromatic Aberration Correction compensates for the inherent color deficiencies found in some lenses.
The VariCam line now benefits from Panasonic’s P2 format, which records to an ultra-reliable, resilient and reusable solid-state media card. With virtually no moving parts, the VariCam is highly resistant to shock and vibration, and performance in extreme environments is dramatically improved.
