EVO is a complete, networked storage server solution for Video/Film/TV, graphics, VFX, animation, audio, and broadcast production environments. It combines a high performance storage array with the most extensive connectivity options available in a single product – including 8 Gb/s Fibre Channel and 10 Gb/s Ethernet. EVO can be a SAN, a NAS, or both at the same time and is designed for online, real-time use with leading Mac/Windows applications such as Final Cut Pro/FCP X, Avid, Blackmagic, Smoke, Scratch, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Pro Tools.
Developed specifically for post production workgroups, EVO offers a huge
advantage in terms of connectivity and upgradeability – since it
integrates a NAS and a SAN into one system, you get the benefits of both
file sharing and volume sharing. By including Fibre Channel, iSCSI and
NAS into a single product, EVO assures that creative workgroups will
have the best tool for every aspect of a project. You can even use Xsan,
metaSAN or StorNext (or SANmp, of course!) to share EVO’s Fibre Channel
storage just like you would any FC RAID system.
Upgrade options are available to easily add more storage into the system
or increase the number of direct-connect Ethernet and Fibre Channel
clients. EVO’s options allow you to pick the perfect shared storage
system for your workgroup – simply start with the EVO Base, then add
more drives and extra Fibre Channel or Ethernet ports. A 10 Gb/s
Ethernet option is also available, giving a 10x increase in network
bandwidth for NAS and iSCSI.
In the latest V5.8 software, EVO’s networking capabilities have been extended with the addition of
Virtual Switch. By enabling EVO’s Ethernet ports to function as an
Ethernet switch, the new Virtual Switch feature allows each connected
workstation to communicate with EVO while also maintaining communication
paths to other connected workstations as well as external network
EVO v.5.8 also introduces a major achievement in collaborative Final Cut Pro X workflows.
A well-known limitation of Final Cut Pro X is that its Libraries
cannot be saved to, nor opened on a standard NAS share. EVO v.5.8
introduces a unique sharing and project locking system built
specifically for Final Cut Pro X, that enhances workgroup collaboration
and still enables editors to have their Final Cut Pro X Libraries on
EVO’s network shares.
EVO ShareBrowser is a unified file/project/asset management software for
Windows and OS X that allows EVO users to comment, search, tag, preview
proxies, and verify file transfers across all EVO storage as well as
local, offline, cloud and other network shares. The companion version of
ShareBrowser receives many UI refinements, in addition to new features
for FCPX users, and improved overall performance.
16-Bay Key Features:
- A 64-bit, multi-core CPU, 3U storage server
- SAN and NAS sharing
- 16 SATA/SSD drive bays
- 4 x 1 Gb/s Ethernet SAN/NAS ports (Expandable)
- Unlimited licenses of ShareBrowser Desktop Client
- Unlimited licenses of SANmp Windows & Mac SAN sharing software
- Unlimited licenses of globalSAN iSCSI Initiator for Mac OS X
- Redundant Power supplies
EVO also includes features such as advanced disk-provisioning that
enables drives to be arranged into storage pools, each capable of
containing one or more volumes. Individual volumes can each be assigned a
discrete RAID level, meaning the flexibility to choose what matters
most: performance, reliability, usable space, or a mix of all three. For
the most demanding applications, EVO offers the ability to dedicate any
pool’s bandwidth to a specific task such as ingesting video.
