NAB 2014: Arri AMIRA
AbelCine was lucky enough to feature Arri's highly anticipated new camera, the AMIRA, in our booth this year. The AMIRA is aimed at ENG-style or documentary productions and features a compact, rugged design, plus ProRes recording up to 4:4:4 in HD and 2K modes. NAB 2014: Freefly Systems MōVI M15 & Accessories
Jeff visits Freefly's booth to talk with Tabb Firchau about the new MōVI M15 and MōVI Controller. Along with a number of new features, the M15's larger sled allows users to balance longer and heavier camera bodies. The MōVI Controller features wireless focus, iris, zoom (FIZ) control and has the ability to access MōVI menus for easier adjustments.
NAB 2014: Fujinon Premier PL 25-300 Cabrio
Fujinon announced their new 25-300 Cabrio right before the start of NAB, and during the show, Ian got a chance to visit their booth and see it up close. Along with the new lens, the booth also featured a mockup of the optional servo unit that will eventually offer electronic zoom, focus, and iris adjustment.
Canon Announces New 17-120 Cine-Servo Zoom
Prior to NAB, Canon revealed their new Cine-Servo Zoom lens, the CN7x17 KAS S 17-120. We got an early look at the lens, which has a 31.7mm image circle, along with an 11-blade iris and angled witness marks. If needed, the servo unit can be easily removed with a few screws. AbelCine Optical Accessories
James Mathers of the Digital Cinema Society visits our booth as Andy gives him a tour of some new optical accessories we showed off this year. Andy discusses the UMS-Cine for Canon Cine Zooms, along with the new PLx1.4 extender co-developed with IB/E. Finally, Andy shows off our new Matchmaker chart, designed to make color matching cameras easier.
Live at NAB 2014: Phantom Flex4K
For another year, Teradek broadcast their live NAB show directly from the floor of the Las Vegas Convention Center. In this segment, Jamie stops by to talk with host Michael Artiss about the "digital cinema friendly" Phantom Flex4K and why high-speed filmmaking is becoming more and more accessible to today's productions.
NAB 2014: Sony ENG/EFP Build-Up Kit for Sony F5/F55
Leading up to NAB, Sony had been teasing the #NewFTransformed, and at the show they finally revealed its true meaning. The ENG/EFP Build-Up Kit is designed to make the F5 or F55 into a truly shoulder-mounted camera, and Jeff was able to get more details from Senior Product Manager Juan Martinez at the Sony booth.
NAB 2014: Panasonic VariCam 35
Featuring a Super 35 4K MOS sensor and a modular design, the VariCam 35 was definitely one of the most exciting pre-NAB announcements. We posted an in-depth blog on the VariCams (35 & HS) when they were first announced, but during NAB, Andy was able to make his way over to the Panasonic booth to get an even closer look at a fully setup VariCam 35.
