NAB 2015: AbelCine Accessories

I spent some time in our NAB booth, looking at some of our new AbelCine accessories. The first one is the UMS Conversion Kit for Canon Cine-Servo.

We removed the mount that comes on the Cine-Servo 17-120 lens, and we put a neutral mount in place of that, which is part of our UMS Conversion Kit. This allows you to quickly interchange between different mounts for different cameras, such as E-mount, Micro 4/3s, Nikon, and EF. You can adapt this lens for any camera you want to use it with while maintaining critical back focus.

The next product I looked at is our new LANC Cable. This unique cable takes the switch closure many cameras use to initiate recording and translates it to a lanc connection, so any camera that uses lanc protocol to record on/off will be able to have record off capability through this cable. This is one of the many cables we are now manufacturing at AbelCine.

In addition to these two AbelCine accessories, we have a number of optical adapters now on display in our NY, LA and Chicago showrooms. Watch my video above to learn more about AbelCine accessories.

The IB/E Universal Mount System (UMS) for Canon Cinema Zooms makes it easy for users to quickly switch between various lens mounts in the field. Of the various mount options, the first available mount was for Canon EF, but with the recent crop of new cameras, you now have the ability to use any of the popular Canon Cinema Zooms (14.5-60, 30-300, 15.5-47, and 30-105) on cameras such as the Sony a7S, Panasonic GH4, or Blackmagic Studio Camera.

Back at NAB 2014, Andy did a great booth tour with James Mathers from Digital Cinema Society where he highlighted a number of our new AbelCine-developed optical accessories. One of the products that generated a lot of interest at the show was our IB/E Universal Mount System for Canon Cinema Zooms, which is comprised of our new UMS Conversion Kit for Canon Cinema Zoom lenses (compact zoom and cinema zoom versions available) and the IB/E Universal Mount System (UMS).

It's been almost two years since we introduced the line of adapters that IB/E designed exclusively for AbelCine - and at this year's NAB, we're debuting the latest versions. The line now includes the HDx2 Mark II, the HDx35 Mark II, and the newest, the PLx2, which doubles the focal length of 35mm PL-mount lenses.
