Overview
Zacuto Sony FS7 Recoil is a shoulder-mounted rig with the Zacuto VCT Pro Baseplate and Zacuto Axis Mini for your Sony FS7 and FS7 II camera which can be used with either your Gratical EVFs or your Sony monitor. This camera rig allows you to relocate the Sony camera grip to the side of the VCT Pro via M6 Rosette for optimal usability and comfort.
This is a Next Generation Recoil rig designed for optimal balance and comfort when shoulder mounted or on your tripod. With lenses and cameras of similar weights, the balance point is where the lens meets the camera body. In a Recoil rig, the balance point needs to be directly over your shoulder which puts the camera behind you. This requires focus, monitoring and camera controls to be relocated forward, creating a lighter and shorter rig.
Includes:
VCT Pro – this baseplate has a sliding top plate for quickly removing the camera from the rig or fast lens changes, a built-in, curved shoulder pad, a v-wedge tripod connector with 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 screw option (screws are included). It features removable and extendable 6.5" iris rods (included) and rows of 1/4-20 screw holes along the sides for accessories. It has quick release 15mm rod parts in the rear. The recessed rod mount offers maximum accessory capable space under your camera lens.
Axis Mini for Sony FS7 - Attaches to the included Sony FS7 Rod Lock to mount either a rosette mounted EVF like the optional Gratical HD or your Sony monitor itself (Sony 15mm round rod insert required for FS7 II compatibility is sold separately). Adjustable positioning for shoulder mounted shooting or tripod shooting.
Zacuto VCT Pro Baseplate
This Baseplate is compatible with all cameras including Canon EOS C-series, Sony FS5 and FS7, AJA CION, Blackmagic, RED cameras, ARRI AMIRA, many DSLRs, Mirrorless cameras, and more (though this kit is designed specifically for your Sony FS7 or FS7II). The VCT Pro has a built-in, curved shoulder pad, plus an ARRI M6 rosette for accessories and grips. It comes with quick-release, extendable 6.5" rods at the front and lightweight spaced quick-release rod ports at the back. The v-wedge tripod connector is compatible with VCT14 tripod adapter plates or you can use the 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 screw holes for direct connect to your tripod quick-release plate.
The red sliding top plate offers easy adjustability for lens changes, removing your camera, and balancing your rig correctly on your shoulder. This sliding plate, combined with a double screw track, offers 10" of camera balance sliding range. You can quickly release your camera from the rig by sliding the red plate completely off and using the Zacuto VCT Pro Dock (sold separately) to quickly transition it to a tripod, slider, etc.
A lightweight, adjustable rod mount is set far back in the plate, which offers plenty of accessory-capable area under the camera lens. This allows you to position your camera further back on the plate. This keeps the balance point of your rig directly over your shoulder. The sliding track of the rod riser offers 25mm of vertical adjustment.
The shoulder pad portion of the VCT Universal is set as far forward on the plate as possible, also to maximize your accessory capable rod area and aid with balance. The VCT Universal Baseplate is the core of Zacuto's Next Generation Recoil rigs.
Lowering your camera on a rig prevents already tall cameras from being too top heavy. With the Zacuto VCT, the distance from the bottom of your camera to your shoulder is just 3/4".

The Axis Mini has extensive articulation for use with a variety of cameras, both shoulder mounted or in tripod operating position.
The Axis Mini attaches to your rig via a 15mm rod port at the top of a kit positioned perpendicular to your camera lens. Slide the Axis Mini into the 15mm rod port and clamp into place. The Axis Mini attaches to the EVF via a secure rosette mount.
The Axis Mini has three red tension levers that are controlled independently with 360 degree motion. Release all three levers to completely reposition the mount or release just one to make single segment adjustments.
