Overview

Overview

The DJI Inspire 1 PRO Black Edition quadcopter, with up to a 1.2 mile radio range, includes the 4K Zenmuse X5 Micro Four Thirds (MFT) 3-axis Gimbal Camera and a DJI 15mm f/1.7 lens. Fixed landing gear and arms which raise during flight means your aerial device will land securely and your camera will experience a 360-degree unobstructed view.

This version of DJI's Inspire 1 transforms the bright, white shell of the Inspire 1 and its remote control into a sleek black. DJI was inspired by high-end film making equipment the world over and its cousins the DJI Ronin and Ronin-M. The new look adds style to the Inspire 1 and allows it to fit in on location with high-end film equipment.

The DJI Inspire 1 PRO and Inspire 1 RAW are the smallest, easiest professional aerial filmmaking platforms in the world. They combine DJI’s leadership in aerial technology with world-class M4/3 imaging capabilities. A GPS-based stabilization system and the 3-axis gimbal on the Zenmuse X5 deliver steady footage. The Zenmuse X5 gimbal maintains the camera direction as the quadcopter turns or banks. It captures footage on internal microSDJC/SDXC memory cards. You can also transfer a live 720p feed via the DJI GO App on your mobile device.

Use the Inspire 1 PRO like you would a camera. A shutter button for stills and a record button for video built into the remote control. It also features a jog dial which allows you to change camera settings quickly and includes customizable buttons. Want expanded control? Plug the optional DJI Focus into the remote control to extend its reach as far as the Inspire 1 PRO or Inspire 1 RAW flies.

Need someone to pilot and someone else to control the camera? Add an optional, second radio controller (one is included) to focus your attention on flight or camera pan/tilt movements.

Power to Fly

New propellers and motors designed with the Inspire 1 PRO and Inspire 1 RAW in mind keep the Inspire agile and fast. You can expect flight times of 15-18 minutes with Zenmuse X5 and 13-15 minutes with the Zenmuse X5R.

NOTE: DJI's testing included these parameters:

Inspire 1 Pro: TB47 battery 15 minutes; TB48 battery 18 minutes
Inspire 1 RAW: TB47 battery 13 minutes; TB48 battery 15 minutes

Ready-To-Fly

DJI named the DJI Inspire 1 a ready-to-fly platform. This multi-rotor aerial device requires only minor assembly in order to fly. A radio controller/transmitter is included so you do not need to add one. Which means you reduce not only prep time, but also weight carried by the quadcopter. Like their much larger airplane cousins, your pre-flight prep for any aerial device should verify calibration, secure propellers, and confirm body integrity.

GPS-Based Stabilization

Thanks to spacial awareness in the GPS-based stabilization system employed by the DJI Inspire 1 PRO, this quadcopter can maintain or hold position even during wind interference. It is intelligent enough to compensate and avoid stalling if pilot inputs seem overzealous and beyond the unit's capabilities. It's not AI, but it will help preserve your gear in certain conditions. If the quadcopter experiences signal loss, or you press the preset button, the aircraft will fly home to you.

With a precision accuracy of 0.02°, sub-pixel stabilization is occuring and as a result, the Zenmuse X5 produces smooth footage and sharp photos even with long exposure no matter how you fly.

An Indoor Mode exists which does not use GPS. Instead, DJI relies upon Vision Position technology which combines ultrasonics and optical flow. Please note that certain features will not function in Indoor Mode since they rely upon GPS.

Integrated CMOS Sensor & Included Zenmuse X5

The CMOS sensor on the DJI Inspire 1 PRO / Zenmuse X5 features a standard Micro Four Thirds (MFT) mount. DJI also includes the Zenmuse 5 camera and a DJI 15mm f/1.7 lens. If you already have it or wish to purchase it separately, you can pair the Olympus M ED 12mm f/2.0 lens with the Inspire 1 PRO. This sensor is eight times the size of the one in the previous X3 camera included with the Inspire 1 and includes an ISO range of 100-25600 with accurate gradation and low noise.

The Zenmuse X5 is among the smallest Micro 4/3 cameras made. As of its launch, the Zenmuse X5 was the only MFT camera designed for aerial imaging. The Zenmuse X5 captures clear, 4K (4096 x 2160) video at up to 30 frames per second and capture photos at 16 megapixels in Adobe DNG RAW.

Although the Zenmuse X5 was designed for video capture, you can also record still photos (single-shot) at up to 16MP. If you prefer, you can capture a burst of 3, 5, or 7 frames. It also records time-lapse at stepped intervals of 3 and 60 seconds.

3-Axis Gimbal

Brushless servo motors on the Zenmuse X5 camera maintain stable shots and horizon levels. The 3-axis gimbal is integrated into the Zenmuse X5. It can remain locked on a subject since it pans the full 360-degrees. The Inspire 1 PRO's propeller arms also lift above the camera to maintain that unobstructed view you require. Use transmitter/remote controller to mamnually change pan/tilt positioning.

Comprehensive App Control with DJI GO

The DJI GO App provides control over your camera while you fly. Use the intuitive auto focus mode to compose your shots and change everything from focus to shutter speed and aperture with the tap of a finger. Through the same app, you can also control how your Inspire 1 flies, from auto take-off and landing, plus fine tuning of your flying experience and even employ a set of intelligent flight modes.

Live HD View

A real-time HD downlink allows you to live view what your Zenmuse X5 camera is seeing. You can use this to frame your shots or spot the next move of your aerial device. The app delivers full manual camera control which sets you right in the driver seat. Control options include shutter speed, aperture, ISO settings, etc.

Swipe to Fly

You can auto takeoff or land your aircraft using a simple swipe of your fingers on your smartphone, tablet, or other compatible mobile device. A map indicates the position and heading of your aerial device. It also permits you to establish a new home point or to activate Return to Home.

Remote Focus

Do you want to start on a shallow depth-of-field of your subject and then bring the background into sight? With remote focus control you can, with a tap of the screen inside the DJI GO app. Using the DJI Focus, you can even turn a dial just like you would turn a lens allowing for even more refined control.

Intelligent Flight Modes

Various intelligent flight modes are available to achieve difficult shots.

Follow Me - Indicate a subject and the aircraft will automatically follow that person, car, animal, surfboard, you name it. Okay, maybe not an ant, but you get it.

Point of Interest - Select a location or object to focus on and your Inspire 1 PRO (and Inspire 1 RAW) will continuously face that point as you fly or circle around that location/object.

Waypoints - Plan flight paths and your Inspire 1 PRO (and Inspire 1 RAW) will fly autonomously on your pre-set route which lets you concentrate on the camera.

Course Lock - By activating Course Lock, the controls will be set relative to your aircraft‘s current path. This easy navigation allows you to fly in a set direction as you fly alongside moving objects or across scenes.

Home Lock - Fix your controls to be relative to the Home Point. Easily pull back on the control stick to bring the aircraft back home, or push forward to fly farther away, no matter which way it is facing.

Zenmuse X5 MFT Camera

Meet the Zenmuse X5! The world’s first mirrorless, compact Micro Four Thirds camera made for aerial photography and cinematography was designed to work with the DJI Inspire 1 ready-to-fly platform. The Zenmuse X5 packs a powerful sensor that’s capable of recording 4K videos at up to 30 fps and capturing still images at 16MP. Equipped with the standard MFT interchangeable lens mount and allowing full wireless remote control over focus, aperture, and more, the Zenmuse X5 lets you shoot the way you want.

With 12.8 stops of dynamic range, shadows and highlights are represented with clarity in your footage. The Zenmuse X5 can record at up to 30 fps, 2.7K (2704x1520) at up to 30 fps, and Full HD (1920 x 1080) at up to 60 fps in MP4/MOV format.

DJI states that a higher speed signal readout suppresses the rolling shutter effect when record. DJI also claims great pixel clarity.

Don't be fooled by the compact size of this little powerhouse camera. It provides traditional image adjustments with Zebra Pattern and Focus Peaking and records professional-level footage. Now you know why DJI added the PRO designation in the name.

Capture Memories

With a M4/3 sensor capable of capturing photos at 16MP, the Zenmuse X5 produces print-ready images which appear as good in a frame as they do on your screen. The extra pixels represent a 25% increase over the original Inspire 1 camera. With the shutter speed increased to as quick as 1/8000 of a second, and the power of the new imaging processor enabling burst capture of up to 7 full size photos per second, the Zenmuse X5 helps you recall every moment.

Interchangable Lens Mount

By utilizing the standard MFT mount, one of the most popular lens systems in the camera industry, the Zenmuse X5 is well-positioned to benefit from new products and innovations from major lens manufacturers. As of printing, there are several prime lenses compatible with the Zenmuse X5. With different specifications but the same top-notch quality, these lenses provide you with flexibility on set.
