The Sony HXR-NX100 Full HD Compact Professional NXCAM Camcorder comes with a unique 20 mega pixel 1.0-type Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor which delivers high resolution and fantastic low-light performance while offering more depth of field control, as demanded by today’s diverse shooting requirements. The compact and robust HXR-NX100 includes a 1.0-type sensor, familiar manual controls, 3-independent manual lens rings, plus auto options.

Sony reminds you that a 1.0-type sensor is 7x larger than three 1/4.7-type sensors combined.

High Sensitivity & High Resolution

The sensor, which is approximately the same size as a Super 16mm film frame, delivers higher sensitivity than most camcorders in its category. The 1.0-type Exmore R CMOS sensor is brighter, offers high resolution, and also provides more bokeh with a shallow depth of field. You may think of camcorders as mostly in use to capture news footage, but this one creates beautiful, cinematic imagery.

Recording Formats

The Sony NX100 offers flexibility for your Full HD workflow and provides multiple recording choices, including:

• XAVC S 50Mbps which realizes better image quality
• AVCHD and DV file-based recording are suitable for conventional workflow

Sony G Series 12x Optical Zoom

This lightweight lens offers a 12x optical zoom from 29mm angle of view at wide end, which can be increased to 24x with Clear Image Zoom while retaining full resolution thanks to Sony’s unique By Pixel Super Resolution Technology, giving a crisp and high resolution feel that is nearly identical to optical zoom. Zoom performance can be doubled at any point with a Digital Extender by up to 48x.

Lens features 3x independent manual lens rings which intuitively control zoom, focus, and iris. Use it in either full-auto mode or completely manual for maximum creative control.

Manual Rings for Creative Control

Three independent manual lens rings provide the creative control you prefer when choosing manual focusing. The fixed Sony G series lens achieves 12x optical zoom, which can be doubled to 24x with Clear Image Zoom making use of the 1.0 type sensor to still deliver a native resolution 1920x1080 image. You can also double the zoom again, using a sophisticated Digital Extender for a maximum 48x zoom. It also features an end-stop.

The ND Filter function exists to allow you to choose four conventional mechanical ND filter positions to enhance your ability to work in any shooting scenario.

You can utilize manual dial or the buttons on the side of the body to adjust Iris / aperture, GAIN, and shutter speed. White Balance options adjust by color temperature in convenient 100K steps.

High Resolution LCD and EVF

The HXR-NX100 incorporates a 0.24-type 1550K dots EVF and 3.5-type 1550K dots LCD, offering high resolution for impressive visibility.

Additional Advanced Features

The HXR-NX100 also features Picture Profiles, dual media slots with SIMUL or RELAY recording,independent record control, built-in ND filters, and professional audio abilities.

Picture Profiles

Fine-tune the look for your scene before you shoot. Adjust up to 99 parameters, such as: gamma, knee, black levels, color model/level/phase, and much more. Save the adjusted parameters, along with other settings, in a Picture Profile. Up to six Profiles can be stored for later use.

Dual Media Slots

The HXR-NX100 is equipped with two memory card slots. The camcorder is compatible with SDXC and SDHC cards as well as Memory Stick PRO Duo (Mark 2) and Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo. Two media slots can record in either SIMUL or RELAY mode.

• SIMUL Mode - permits simultaneous recording to two memory cards. The user can set up the two Start/Stop buttons on the HXR-NX100, one on the grip and one on the camcorder body, to independently start and stop recording on different memory cards while recording in SIMUL mode.
• RELAY Mode - automatically switches recording from the first to the second memory card when the first is full.

Built-in ND Filters

A built-in Neutral Density (ND) filter wheel includes positions for Clear, 1/4 (2 Stops), 1/16 (4 Stops), and 1/64 (6 Stops). This makes it easier to to obtain all the advantages of shallow depth of field even in exterior day shoots, with no need to worry about carting around separate filters.

Professional Audio

Professional audio quality is made easy thanks to XLR connectors as standard and Multi Interface (MI) Shoe supporting fully integrated wireless audio solutions, such as Sony’s UWP-D range.
