The lightweight Blackmagic Design URSA Mini Pro 4.6K Camera features professional, ENG-style functionality with the addition of control buttons, dials, and knobs on an ergonomic and balanced body. The URSA Mini Pro maintains the same reliable Super35 sensor which offers up to 15 stops of dynamic range on the original URSA Mini.

This camera records up to 60fps in 4.6K (4608x2592) to capture RAW. The sensor delivers low noise and wide dynamic range to provide clean images and detail even in dark and highlight areas. It records lossless 12-bit CinemaDNG RAW files or 10-bit ProRes files for post production workflows with minimum storage requirements. Can also record 3K Anamorphic (2072x2560). Simultaneous RAW and ProRes recording is not yet a feature.

Choose the media which best suits you. The URSA Mini Pro offers 4 card slots with dual CFast 2.0 and dual UHS-II SD card recorder slots. These slots feature the same functionality as the URSA Mini which automatically switches from one card to the next when the first one is full. Hot swap cards while you are recording.

NOTE: A rear 4-pin XLR industry standard power connector for batteries is compatible with V-Mount or Gold Mount battery plates (sold separately) to provide external 12V power supply. 

Interchangeable Lens Mounts

This camera also includes interchangeable lens mounts. The EF mount comes standard with additional options for both PL and B4 mounts. 

Integrated ND Filters

Not only did Blackmagic Design listen to user needs by developing broadcast user controls in a familiar layout, they also added built-in ND filters (clear, 2 stops, 4 stops, and 6 stops). These filters were designed to provide filtration of both optical and IR wave lengths in order to reduce IR contamination. A convenient dial moves the optical filter you require into place.

Single shooters will value the option to show filter settings (stop reduction, fraction, or ND number) on the LCD touchscreen display and the viewfinder.

Two Display Options

Outdoor productions will appreciate the side panel LCD display which exhibits critical status in easy-to-read black and white for visibility even in daylight conditions. You can switch on a backlight during interior, magic hour or night shoots. This display delivers stats on frame rates, aperture, shutter angle, timecode, ISO, Iris, and white balance.

A foldout 4” touchscreen display on the left side of the camera permits monitoring and review of recorded shots. Access the operating software via tap and swipe moves to adjust camera functions like white balance, and shutter angle. This high-resolution, color display folds out or stores, depending on what you require. It includes a heads-up display overlay along with a histogram, card reading status, and audio meters.

A new digital slate provides you with the ability to tag metadata quickly using the included dictionary and predictive entry on the onscreen keyboard. You can import files into DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer with your added metadata so you can locate the clips you need.

Audio Functions

The audio features on the URSA Mini Pro include Stereo XLR inputs with 48V Phantom Power, an integrated stereo microphone, a single built-in mono speaker, and a professional audio recorder. The 2x XLR inputs can accommodate shotgun mics or wireless microphones. Adjustments can be made with external knobs or the touchscreen audio meters. 

Color Grading

All URSA Mini Pro cameras come with a full version of DaVinci Resolve Studio software which provides color correction and editing tools in a multi-layer timeline.

Connections & Rigs

The body of both the URSA Mini Pro and the URSA Mini include 9 standard 1/4" threaded mounting points scattered on the top and bottom of the camera. You can mount to rails, sliders, tripods, plus attach matteboxes, microphones, on-board lights, and batteries.

There is an optional shoulder mount kit and an EVF from Blackmagic Design to help you transition from tripod to shoulder. Of course, third-party accessories are also available to customize your rig or tripod.

Additional Features:

Capture high frame rates then play back at edit frame rate for smooth motion video. Define an “off speed” frame rate after you set the camera’s default shooting frame rate. Once that is established you can toggle between these with the touch of a button.

The manufacturer states that the wide color gamut of the URSA Mini Pro captures more of the visible color spectrum than Rec.2020. They achieve this with third generation Blackmagic Design color science to enable rich skin tones and natural color response after processing the raw sensor data.

Those of you who prefer manual white balance on your ENG cameras can now save it to preset switches on the URSA Mini Pro. 

NOTE: In Summer 2017 a Nikon mount will be available for this camera.

The IndiPRO Tools V-Mount Adapter Plate for Blackmagic Design URSA/URSA Mini enables the user to attach third party V-Mount batteries to the URSA Mini camera (included). The battery adapter plate connects directly to the back of the URSA, avoiding the need for extra cabling. Features (1) D-Tap accessory power port.

The IndiPRO Tools Micro-Series 98Wh V-Mount Li-Ion Battery features 14.8V output with a capacity of 6.8Ah, and supports up to a 12A draw. It contains one of the industry’s top battery cells, ideal for professional video cameras, lighting, and monitors. Weighing slightly more than 1.5 lb and measuring just 4.7" x 3.6" x 2.1", this compact battery is ideal for filmmakers on the go. It features a standard D-Tap port for powering accessories (cable sold separately) as well as an integrated USB interface which provides the ability to charge electronic devices during the shoot. This is an IATA carry-on approved battery*, simplifying your travel options. For quick status checks, an integrated 5-bar LED gauge displays the battery's remaining power. This battery has a 2 Year limited warranty against all manufacturer defects.

The IndiPRO Tools Dual V-Mount Battery Charger with XLR Output will charge up to two V-Mount batteries simultaneously. The charger is portable and features a 4-pin XLR DC power output for powering various devices via an included XLR cable while on the road or on location. The charger features an integrated capacity management system that will ensure the fastest charge possible. It is designed with a comfortable carry handle on top and a switch on the side that allows you to select between charge mode, DC output mode (XLR), and Off positions.
