Overview
ZEISS Compact Prime Lenses in the CP.2 family deliver a wide range of focal lengths, full-frame coverage, high-quality images, great flare suppression, and precise focusing through the large rotation angle. ZEISS created the CP.2 lens to support the requirements of filmmakers whether you are producing commercials and need high contrast with accurate color rendition, or creating a potential Academy Award winning feature, or somewhere in between.
Compact Primes are available in from wide angle to telephoto, plus a macro lens: 15mm /2.9, 18mm/3.6, 21mm/2.9, 25mm/2.1, 28mm/2.1, 35mm/2.1, 50mm/2.1, 85mm/2.1, 100mm/2.1 CF, 135mm/2.1, and 50mm2.1 MACRO.
All Compact Prime CP.2 lenses are coated with ZEISS T* coating. The T* coating name (shown with a red T* branded on ZEISS lenses) is derived from anti-reflective (AR) coatings developed 80 years ago at the ZEISS plant in Jena. The T-optics or T-coating name comes from Transparency Optics. These single-layer coating T-optics developed over the years into multilayer coatings. These coatings enable the existence of multiple lens elements and complex optic zoom lenses.
Here are some brief highlights of the ZEISS Compact Primes:
- Cine lenses designed for use with HDSLR cameras
- The CP.2 family accommodates the flexibility of user demands with 5 interchangeable mount types available: PL, EF, F, E, and MFT mount
- Use the same set of lenses when you switch cameras by exchanging the mount type instead of utilizing adaptors
- The compact size of these lenses will fit most rigs
- Except for the Macro lens, all ZEISS CP.2 lenses feature the same front diameter size of 114mm
- 2 lenses range from 2.0lbs to 3.5lbs in weight
- 14 blade aperture construction for a near circular iris shape
- A common aperture of T2.1 for the standard lens set
- These lenses feature a longer focus rotation and a manual focus and iris with standard focus and iris gear positions
- Achieve full frame coverage for focal lengths 21 to 100mm
- You can use a follow focus with the CP.2 lenses
- Consistency of look across all lenses in the ZEISS Compact Prime family across the whole T-stop range
- A reliable, smooth bokeh
- The lenses produce little to no color casting when capturing images with flare
- Robust cine-style housing for durability in the field and long life
Important Note: Some ZEISS CP2 lens sets come with alternative mounts for working with various camera systems. In these sets, ZEISS provides instructions, tools, and a lens chart to enable end users to change mounts. While it is possible for end users to change mounts, we strongly recommend that this work be completed at a lens service center. AbelCine and other lens service/repair facilities will be able switch lens mounts and guarantee high performance using their optical test equipment.
