NiSi Cinema 6.6" x 6.6" Yellow Light Blocker (Natural Night) Filter

The NiSi Cinema 6.6" x 6.6" Yellow Light Blocker (Natural Night) Filter is designed to reduce the appearance of light pollution in video or images that include the night sky and illumination from artificial light sources.  Light pollution occurs in areas of the night sky that are above or near concentrated and intense sources of artificial light such as cities. These light sources can include exterior and interior lamps for commercial or residential buildings, brightly lit advertisements, and sports or entertainment venues. Additionally, artificial lights clustered together can become difficult to discern individually. Light pollution from these "cluttered" sources can become a source of distraction within an image, resembling overexposed areas of glare.

The NiSi Cinema Yellow Light Blocker (Natural Night) can improve the results of nighttime images by blocking the yellow light from sodium-vapor lamps, mercury-vapor lamps, or low CRI (Color Rendering Index) LEDs, all of which are conventional light sources within urban areas. By blocking the dominant wavelengths of light associated with the color of these lamps, the visibility of astronomical objects is increased. Where they appear, artificial light sources are more clearly defined with less glare and improved contrast.

This filter is compatible with filter holders or matteboxes (sold separately) that can accommodate 4mm-thick rectangular filters and is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. Each glass surface features one layer of nano-coating, which results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil for higher cleaning efficiency. A leatherette pouch is included for storage and transport.
