The ARRI SMB-2 Basic Set - 15mm Studio supports filter sizes up to 4" x 5.65", and is designed for use with larger wide-angle prime lenses and zooms. The SMB-2 benefits from stackable filter stages, allowing quick reconfiguration. This mattebox includes a 4:3 ratio (spherical) sunshade. A 2:1 ratio (anamorphic) sunshade is available (sold separately). The back plate is compatible with R1 Filter Rings (sold separately).
NOTE: When recording a standard 2.8K image with ALEXA and using a 3-filter stage configuration, the SMB-2 covers lenses up to the 14mm Master Prime and 14mm Ultra Prime, as well as all Alura zooms.

Stackable Filter Stages
Filter stages can be stacked together as single or dual filter stage modules. Filters are fully rotatable, the 2-filter stage accepts one geared filter frame, and all filter stages are fitted with independent "tray catchers.”
Sunshade & Mattes
The standard 4:3 ratio sunshade covers the full ALEXA sensor and permits repositioning in post. SMB-1 sunshades are easily removable by means of captive screws. Matte sets are available for both anamorphic and spherical shooting.
Anamorphic Conversion Set
The mattebox can be optimized for anamorphic filming by means of a unique 2:1 ratio sunshade, side flags and matte set (sold separately).
Advanced Flag Adjusters
Top, bottom and side flags (not included) allow precise positioning thanks to advanced adjusters, and the top flag has folding side flaps to reduce overall width if required.
Top Accessory Mount
An accessory mount (sold separately) can be fitted directly onto the matte box body, offering surfaces for French flag arms and incorporating a 3/8-16" sliding mount that is ideal for ultrasonic sensors such as the ARRI UDM-1.
Triple Filter Frame
Used in combination with either the SMB-1 or SMB-2, the triple filter frame (sold separately) stacks two or three glass filters together in a single filter frame that occupies two regular matte box slots and prevents unwanted reflections between filter surfaces.
Filter Stage Adapter
This step-down adapter (not included) permits SMB-2 filter stages to be mounted to the SMB-1 matte box, without affecting wide-angle coverage.
