Overview
Hive Lighting's Bee Plasma Flood is their first open face-style lighting solution. Using a single micro-star plasma bulb, the Bee provides a 100-degree flood. A revolutionary reflector system in the Bee accepts four-point and eight-point softboxes, photo umbrellas, and a traditional glass Fresnel lens, making the Bee a tool for both motion and still image production.
The versatile Bee 250 Plasma Flood weighs only 10 pounds. It is both easily transportable and simple to set up and break down on-the-go.
Adjustable color temperature between 4600K and 6500K CCT (plus moonlight VFX), easily powered with 90-300VAC or 18-38VDC. It also is flicker-free, offers a 30,000 hour bulb life, is vibration and impact resistant, and is capable of producing output twice as bright as LEDs, four times brighter than fluorescents, and five times brighter than an incandescent, all from a single point source bulb.
The Bee 250 Plasma Flood can be powered with the included 90-300V AC Hive Lighting Power Supply.
About Hive Plasma
Plasma combines the daylight balance and high output of HMIs with the energy efficiency, reliability and durability of LEDs, but exceeds both in color rendering and spectrum. Plasma emitters use a single point-source bulb, with no electrodes or filaments. Instead, the quartz bulb is filled with a blend of noble gases and metal salts to make an inert gas. When this gas is excited it shifts its state of matter from gas to plasma, which results in an incredibly powerful light source.
These lights produce far less heat than HMIs and Tungsten bulbs. They do get warm, but according to Hive you can touch them without gloves and move them around while they are on.
They also produce no sound. Hive plasma lights are silent due to solid state electronics.
Please also note that Hive Plasma can be used with chroma blue or green screens.
