40% brighter than the original LiteMat, the S2 LiteMat 1 (11.5 x 21 x 0.9") offers better color quality with Color-Correct LEDs and a widely extended Kelvin range, all without an increase in power draw. S2 LiteMat is a thin, lightweight LED mat light source you can hook & loop to just about anything. Each LiteMat fixture includes a Velcro® loop fastener surrounding the LED light face and rear edges. This allows you to quickly secure your light with the addition of adhesive hook tape to accept your LiteMat on nearly any surface. You can also traditionally mount these thin lights with mount accessories.

This kit includes a single light source, dimmer, power supply, light modifiers, and a bag to carry everything.

The S2 LiteMat 1 can be used anytime you require soft and controllable light. As a key light, you can easily mount the unit on your 5/8" Baby stand or attach it to an elevator wall, or any surface for that matter, with adhesive Velcro or hook & loop. Because it is lightweight, LiteMat makes an ideal handheld fill light. You can also mount your LiteMat overhead. It functions well as the light source from a monitor when shooting someone typing at a computer or workstation. Also, makes a great natural lightsource on a wall for your subject to pass by what appears to be a window light source.

This system walks the line between a complete, ready-to-shoot system and a DIY light source. With its set of predefined accessories which are described below, it can serve the needs of DPs, gaffers, and lighting technicians looking for a more turn-key setup. Conversely, the LiteMat head unit, with its Kino Flo®-compatible mounting system, offers great flexibility with its lightweight and modular design and high light output, allowing the LiteMat to serve as the heart of your next great idea. You can easily make your own accessories or simple soft boxes, customized light banks, or even your own Chinese lantern. Just attach your creation with Velcro® or hook & loop and you are all set.

Simple & Lightweight

S2 LiteMat is a unique and lightweight LED lighting fixture system designed for cinema, television, and HD video. Born out of the need for a Color-Correct light source that is both lightweight yet durable, high-quality yet economical, and simple yet cleverly fashioned, the LiteMat system takes an unusual approach to lighting. By providing evenly spaced, Color-Correct LEDs spread out over a large area, S2 LiteMat creates soft light without requiring diffusion, though you can add Diffusion as an optional light modifier. This soft-through-pixelization method allows each S2 LiteMat unit to achieve surprisingly bright light levels while remaining under 1" (25 mm) thick in size.

Now with Cinema Emitters / CineMitters

The number one request from existing LiteMat users was a widened Kelvin temperature range. After years of working on the new Cinema emitters (CineMitters) LiteGear pushed the lower CCT to 2600 degrees, allowing for candle-light or deep-tungsten output while increasing the CRI to a staggering 95+ average. That is nearly indistinguishable from incandescent sources. On the cool side, the CCT was pushed up to 6000 degress to better balance for overcast sky or cool white fluorescents. This Kelvin extension still achieved a CRI increase to 95+ and provides beautiful, full-spectrum daylight beam.

Power & Controls

LiteMat is powered and controlled by the same gear used for your VHO Pro LED LiteRibbon. If you are an existing LiteRibbon user, you can use all of your LiteDimmer Single and Hybrid controls as well as power supplies and battery adapters. If you have not yet explored the world of LiteGear's LED LiteRibbon, note that investments in power and controls work with over 24 variations of LiteRibbon as well or your new LiteMat fixtures.

LiteDimmer Pro Hybrid

Provides flicker-free dimming. 

LiteDimmer Pro Hybrid is the most advanced handheld LED dimmer on the market. It is the backbone of control for LiteGear's Hybrid LED products. Hybrid LiteRibbon is designed with both Tungsten and Daylite LED emitters that, when used with LiteDimmer Pro Hybrid, allow precise adjustment of Kelvin temperature ranging from pure Tungsten (2600°K) to pure Daylite (6000°K) and everywhere in between. Its simple yet powerful approach to controlling color temperature and brightness sets a new standard of performance and quality while allowing the kind of flexibility demanded from lighting professionals. Bump, Fire, and Paparazzi Effect are now included in the optional LiteDimmer Pro Hybrid 8 Amp and the optional LiteDimmer Pro Hybrid 16 Amp models.

LitePower Supply

LitePower Supply features a Universal Voltage AC Input with C-14 Connector and an output of a constant 12V DC output.

S2 LiteMat 1 Polyskirt

A multi-wall polypropylene (coroplast) skirt that helps control the light output by limiting the amount of light exiting the fixture beyond the 120-degree primary field. The PolySkirt is assembled using shock-cord and mounts to the LiteMat head with Velcro®. The PolySkirt also serves as an accessory holder as light modifying accessories require its use. 

S2 LiteMat 1 Diffuser

Velcro-lined in (3) densities, the woven fabric diffuser accessories are typically used to further soften the light beam without changing light beam spread. LiteMat Diffusers are made in industry-standard varieties and are assembled by stitching hook Velcro® around their borders to mate with the loop on the skirt.

S2 LiteMat 1 Parasquare Louver

Offers lossless light control. This Louver features an aluminized plastic molded sheet with parabolic elements within each square cell that provides desirable light output with refined edges and an even field. Velcro® one-wrap die cut strips are attached to the edges to serve as a mounting method to the required PolySkirt.

S2 LiteMat 1 LiteMount

Mount your S2 LiteMat with this Mount for a more traditional light source. The LiteMount features a ball-and-socket mounting system.

Additional Info

The S2 LiteMat 1 is based on four “tiled” light engine measuring 9.5x19" (240x480 mm). The head unit features 288 genuine CineMitter LEDs and is covered by a thin, clear polycarbonate layer and bordered entirely with Velcro® “loop” fastener. Mounting is provided with a Kino Flo® compatible, removable gimbal mount. A soft-through-pixelization method allows the LiteMat 1 to achieve surprisingly bright light levels while remaining under 1" (25 mm) thick and weighing just 2.3 lb (1.1 kg).
