Cameo PCU2+ Control Unit for Phantom Cameras

The PCU2+ controls most Phantom high-speed cameras without the need of a laptop and can do so either wirelessly or hard-wired. There are two basic modes of operation: Record Mode and Playback Mode. In Record Mode, you can control the capture process by editing the recording parameters. Playback Mode delivers both playback and the ability to save clips to a CineMag or other media.

The new model (2+) features an aluminum enclosure. It uses an internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery, which allows for over 30 hours of continuous wireless operation.

Toggle between Live and Play Mode to review footage. Clips in RAM can be trimmed and saved to a CineMag. Verify recording is happening while in Record Mode with a convenient REC LED which illuminates while writing images to its RAM. If charging while the unit is off, this will also illuminate. 

Connect two Phantom cameras to the PCU2+ to capture synchronized stereo recording and playback. This is achieved due to the PCU2+ sending all commands to both cameras simultaneously. AbelCine recommends using a trigger hard-wired to the trigger ports of each camera to guarantee matched in/out points. For proper sync, FSYNC must be connected between the two cameras. A connection should also be made between Timecode Out of one camera and Timecode In on the other. Remember to connect the master camera to Cam 1. 

To attain wireless control of a Phantom camera, pair the PCU2+ with a Vision Research Bluetooth dongle. This control reaches up to 328 feet (100m). 

There are five mounting point options on the PCU2+:

• 2x 1/4-20 holes on top
• 2x 1/4-20 holes on bottom
• 1x V-lock on the back 

The internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery allows for over 30 hours of continuous wireless operation. Remember to use only the supplied power supply with the PCU2+. 

Update your firmware via the mini-USB port. You can power the PCU2+ via this port, but you will need to use the Battery Charger Port if you wish to recharge the battery as well. Be sure to register your PCU2+ at www.abelcine.com/r/pcu2-registration to be notified of firmware updates.
