At the Bench: Sony Z280 Camcorder

The Sony Z280 is a great camcorder for single-to-small-crew shooters who are being asked to create 4K content. In this blog, I touch on some of the key features of the camcorder and shoot some test footage.

The Z280 is a 4K ½" 3-CMOS camcorder that records in 4:2:2 10 bit to SxS cards. The Z280 can record in REC709, S-LOG3, and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG). You can think of HLG as a ready-to-air mode that allows HDR content to be created for HDR playback. HLG does not require post color correction, and it contains the dynamic range for HDR display. Watch my video to learn more about the Z280.
