Sensors, Circles, and Lens Coverage

Questions about lens coverage are some of the most common ones we get at AbelCine. With new cameras being released all the time, it's no wonder that trying to keep all the different sensor sizes and specs straight can be a bit confusing.

When a client asks something like "Will my 16mm lens cover the Blackmagic Cinema Camera sensor?", it is easy to give a yes or no answer (in this case it's "no"). But the "why" is important too, and that involves an understanding of things like image circles and sensor size. Keeping these concepts in mind when choosing a camera and lens can make life a lot easier, so check out my most recent HDVideoPro Help Desk article, Sensors & Circles.
