Expanding Access to XGRIDS Technology
As part of this partnership, AbelCine will offer sales of the full lineup of XGRIDS mobile scanners and software in the U.S., including PortalCam and the new Lixel K2 handheld scanner, both designed for fast, accurate environmental scanning and spatial data creation. In addition, AbelCine will provide rental of XGRIDS scanner kits, enabling production teams to integrate advanced 3D capture workflows on a project-by-project basis.
This combination of sales and rental availability ensures that both established studios and independent creators alike can leverage high-performance reality capture tools to support virtual production, pre-vis, location scanning, and digital asset creation.

Training and Workflow Enablement
Beyond the toolset, AbelCine, XGRIDS and District Cinema will further align on a series of training initiatives and hands-on workshop programs, to be announced later this year. These programs will focus on educating production teams on best practices for capture, processing, and integration into downstream workflows.
By combining XGRIDS technology with AbelCine’s expertise in equipment services, production services, and technical training, the partnership aims to lower the barrier to entry for reality capture and accelerate adoption across a wide range of applications.

Advancing the Future of Production Workflows
XGRIDS continues to gain industry recognition for its innovation in spatial capture technology. Most recently in April 2026, the PortalCam became the first product to win four NAB Product of the Year Awards in a single year — an achievement that underscores the platform’s impact on emerging production workflows and its growing adoption across the industry.
This partnership represents a continued investment by AbelCine in the evolution of media workflows — where capture, pre-vis, production and VFX are increasingly interconnected. By standardizing and supporting environmental capture workflows, AbelCine and XGRIDS are helping production teams operate more efficiently while expanding their creative palette.
From feature films and episodic television to live events and immersive experiences, reality capture is becoming an essential component of modern production. Together, AbelCine and XGRIDS are committed to ensuring that these capabilities are not limited to large-scale productions, but are accessible to creators at every level.
