Pick of the Month: The Sennheiser AVX Wireless Audio System

AbelCine is excited to announce a new feature: Pick of the Month. This series will highlight some of our most experienced staff members and give them a chance to share their first-hand knowledge with you.

If you visit our New York office, you may recognize Victor Avila -- not only is he an Account Manager in our expert sales team, but he shoots in his own time as well.

Before he worked at AbelCine, Victor graduated from New York Film Academy and has years of experience working as a PA and AC on independent film productions throughout New York City. He cites his four and a half years at AbelCine as also having strengthened his knowledge of the cinema and video production world.

When asked which item he considers a standout on set, his first choice was the Sennheiser AVX Wireless Lavalier Set. "Audio can be a challenge on set depending on the location," Victor said. "Older wireless systems require scanning for frequencies and need close monitoring to make sure sound levels are right. The AVX set is a foolproof system that makes recording sound easy and stress free. No frequency scanning necessary, and it has built-in audio limiters to ensure your levels are good to go." He is also a fan of its rechargeable lithium-ion battery, no fumbling around for spare batteries required!

Victor believes this system really shines for run-and-gun documentary shooters who do not have a dedicated sound recordist. Similarly, and at a slightly more affordable price point, Victor also recommends the Sony UWP System, which he says works seamlessly with the a7S, FS5 and FS7 -- perfect for those who already own Sony cameras.

If you have any questions about the Sennheiser AVX Wireless Lavalier Set or the Sony UWP System, feel free to reach out to Victor directly. You can also check out Ian McCausland's blog on the Sennheiser AVX for more information.

Be sure to check back again next month for our Pick of the Month.
