IS Capability at up to 4 Stops* of Shake Correction

The EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM features an Image Stabilizer system that provides significant shake reduction for up to 4* shutter speed steps. This helps provide reliable handheld performance and clear image detail in low-light situations or at lower ISOs. Because of Image Stabilization, the EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM can also help minimize the need for a tripod, making handheld operation possible in a vastly increased number of scenarios from portraiture to snapshots and everything in between.

The EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM features a large f/1.4 maximum aperture, which produces a shallow depth of field for beautiful bokeh (background blur), captures at a fast shutter speed, with a bright viewfinder image as well as easy operation in low-light conditions. Combined with its integrated Image Stabilization, the EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM helps capture images in a variety of environments where other lenses may require the use of a flash or alternate light source.

GMo Aspherical Lens with Air Sphere Coating Technology

The EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM is engineered to help render crisp and clear images. For high-contrast images that remain sharp from corner to corner of the composition, it features a molded glass (GMo) aspherical lens, coated with Canon's Air Sphere Coating (ASC) technology for significantly reduced flare and ghosting from reflected light.

Dust & Water Resistant Professional Grade Design

Built to L-series specifications, the EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM not only offers optical excellence, but is also designed to perform in even the most challenging environments. It features dust- and water-resistant construction with seals around the switch panel, focus rings, and mount. The surface of the lens features a smudge-resistant fluorine coating that repels water and oil, and can easily be cleaned with a dry cloth.
