ZEISS Service

Authorized Service Partner

Certified Repair and Maintenance of All ZEISS Prime Cine Lenses

In 2010 we were named the only ZEISS Authorized Service Partner in North America, allowing us to perform repair and calibration for these lenses at the same level as the factory in Oberkochen, Germany, where our techs received master training. Our facilities are equipped with the same equipment used by ZEISS, which is among the most sophisticated in the world. This lens testing equipment is calibrated by ZEISS yearly, when our techs also receive additional training by the ZEISS head trainer.

We provide warranty repairs on these ZEISS lenses:

  • Supreme Primes
  • Compact Prime CP.3 & CP.3 XD
  • Compact Prime CP.2 Super Speed
  • Compact Prime CP.2 Macro
  • Cinema Zooms (CZ.2)
  • Lightweight Zooms (LWZ)
  • ARRI/ZEISS Master Anamorphics
  • ARRI/ZEISS Master Primes
  • ARRI/ZEISS Master Macro 100
  • ARRI/ZEISS Ultra Primes

In addition to these repairs that we perform in-house, we also facilitate repairs on ZEISS still lenses.

Optical Calibration Equipment

The specialized tools required to analyze and calibrate high-quality professional lenses are a combination of precision optics and mechanics, as well as computer hardware and software. Owning these tools, as well as our skill and experience with using them, makes for a dedicated world-class optics service department.

A measurement of contrast, MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) is the most widely used scientific method of describing lens performance – it's also the criteria by which we measure the image quality of lenses. MTF measures how faithfully the lens reproduces (or transfers) detail from the object to the image produced by the lens. Both our New York and Burbank offices are equipped with a ZEISS K9 MTF System, which allows for a quick check of back focus and focus scale accuracy in one setup, with one micron (1/1000th millimeter) precision. Both coasts also use autocollimators for backfocus checks, as well as projectors, and ZEISS Torque Testers for further adjustments.

Our Burbank location is also home to our ZEISS K8 Vertical MTF System. The K8 not only measures MTF, but also easily detects field curvature, chromatic aberration, and whether the optics are properly aligned. The ZEISS T-Stop Tester, which is used to measure the effective transmission aperture of photographic and cinematographic lenses, is also exclusive to our Burbank repair center.
