At the Bench: ARRI Master Grips

You may remember a previous blog post about ARRI's new Master Grips when they were announced at IBC 2016. To recap: ARRI Master Grips not only provide camera stabilization; they also provide lens and camera control, and more. In this blog, I demonstrate these features with an ALEXA Mini.

Available as a thumbwheel or rocker control, and in both left- and right-handed versions, Master Grips also feature a multi-function joystick and function button, in addition to OLED touchscreens. Mounting is via the standard ARRI rosette. With the proper lens interface, they can be used with cinema or ENG lenses. And with 'SUP' versions 5.0 and later, lens data files can be wirelessly transmitted from a companion WCU-4 hand unit directly to the camera.

Master Grips are very customizable, and with the ability to multi-task, they give operators a high level of control over lens and camera operations while recalling the look and feel of ARRI's grips from their film cameras.
