ARRI's flare sets allow for four unique looks: the lens can be used with the regular elements as is, with just the rear flare element, with just the front flare element, or both the flare elements. You can definitely see in the last take that the look with both elements really enhances the flare and creates a distinct look. I also found that the rear flare element stood out as creating a distinctly dramatic flare.
With the ability to use different front and rear glass combinations to create the look and feel that you want for your project, the ARRI Master Anamorphic Flare Set opens up a lot of creative possibilities. The other aspect I noticed while shooting, and you can see in the footage below, is that the different flare elements didn’t compromise the sharpness or the contrast of the lens.
