First Look: Atomos Ninja Assassin

The Ninja Assassin is the latest addition to the Atomos line of monitors/recorders. The Ninja Assassin is a 4K ProRes recorder with many of the same features as its big brother the Shogun, but with HDMI input and output only, no SDI.

It features the same great Atomos OS found in the Shogun, which means there are many focus, exposure, and LUT tools, which are great when working with any camera. We've paired it here with the Canon XC10, which has a 4K HDMI output. With this combination, I can record high quality ProRes 4K files in either video or Canon Log - but still apply a LUT to the monitor and the HDMI output. This is a great workflow for many cameras, especially the Sony a7S and new a7R Mark II. Check out the video above to get a first look at the Ninja Assassin.
