Overview
The 7.7" Convergent Design Apollo OLED Monitor/Recorder/Switcher is a portable multichannel monitor/recorder that can simultaneously record up to four HD video signals, along with a fifth channel of either a live-switch between the four or a quad-split reference view.
The Apollo is well-suited for multi-camera production situations:
Sync - Matching file names, matching timecode, and Apollo’s AV Align feature saves you hours data wrangling and in post production editing.
One SSD - Only one 2.5" Solid State Drive is required to record the four video signals and switched program streams into one file on the drive.
One Codec - No need to transcode disparate codecs as recorded internally from different cameras; Apollo records to edit-ready Apple ProRes. View Apollo Record Times from the manufacturer.
Switching - Using the touchscreen you can monitor and live switch your production, giving you a 5th recorded channel of the program stream.
Double Master - Create a double master while you shoot to spare the monotonous and time consuming process of duplicating copies of your data after you wrap.
AV Align - Add frame delay before you begin shooting and spare the trouble of compensating for any audio/video latency in post production.
Multi-Stream Post Made Easy
The Apollo Media Manager App exports separate Apple ProRes files with matching timecode or a single multi-stream QuickTime file that drops directly into the timeline of supporting NLEs such as FCP-X. Only (1) SSD is needed to contain all of the media, allowing Apollo's dual SSD slots to be used for either extended record times or mirror recording backup. Apollo utilizes industry-standard 2.5" SSDs from Convergent Design or qualified third-party models.
