The Schneider ND 0.9 SE Horizontal Grad Filter - 4x5.65 is a Soft Edge Horizontal Graduated Filter that transitions from Clear to a Neutral Density value of 0.9 (3-stop exposure reduction) with a soft gradient. Soft Edge Grad transition lines are intended for use with wide angle and normal focal length lenses.
Graduated Neutral Density filters are typically used to balance exposure within a scene. A very common application is balancing exposure of sky and terrain in a landscape (avoiding overexposed skies and underexposed earth).
