Overview
The ARRI UDM-1 Ultrasonic Distance Measure - Basic Set includes the following items:
- (1) UDM Sensor Unit (K2.65130.0)
- (1) UDM Display Unit (K2.65131.0)
- (1) UDM Sensor Cable (K2.0006459)
NOTE: Mounting arm (K2.65020.0) & power cable (e.g., K2.65240.0) sold separately.
On-Set Distance Measurement
The Ultrasonic Distance Measure UDM-1 measures the distance between the film/sensor plane and objects by sending ultrasonic pulses and measuring the time they take to bounce back. It is compatible with any camera system.
Range Limits
The measuring range can be configured via the included display unit. This allows exclusion of objects that are irrelevant for the focus pull or those delivering confusing values to the camera assistant.
System Integration
The UDM-1 includes a sensor module and display unit that indicates the measured values on a transflective (LCD) screen. When used with ALEXA Plus or Studio cameras (or the UMC-4 Universal Motor Controller), the measured distance will be instantly displayed on the WCU-4 hand unit. The UDM-1 also enables ALEXA Plus or Studio cameras and the UMC-4 to automate focus tracking by setting the focus motor to continuously follow measured distance of a subject in the frame.
