The Focus Technologies Wards Sniper Mk 3 measures distance like most aids on the market, but what distinguishes the Mk 3 from other devices is the speed of the unit, and the advantages of its laser being able to measure through mirrors (no more pulling a tape on those critical bank shots), and through glass (assuming the glass is clean with no tint or glare kick). Basically, what the human eye sees, the Mk 3 sees. With OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology, the display continuously updates at a rate near 30 Hz, and achieves the same rate wirelessly with zero latency.
Smoke Iris
When smoke is used on set, a laser, much like the human eye, can see it. Focus Technologies has developed a solution called the Smoke Iris (included standard with each unit). This simple device attaches to the shoulder screw of any of the Sniper face plate attachments. When attached, the user can close down one sensor to the desired degree depending on the intensity of the smoke being used on set. The Smoke Iris allows penetration through most light smoke environments, and will enable accuracy up to 50' (15.2m). Performance will vary based on the user's familiarity with laser functionality.
