Scope of Instruction

Practical, real world knowledge that you can immediately put to use in the field

Our technical specialists and affiliate instructors have first-hand experience working with the technology and subjects they teach. We offer unbiased, practical points of view that focus on how tools are actually used in a production environment. We understand the demands of production and impart real-world knowledge in a concise, easy to digest format.

We offer classes on a variety of subjects in five fundamental disciplines related to the tools, craft, and business of filmmaking. Each class is designed to stand on its own, although taking multiple classes in a series provides a deeper understanding of the subject.

We have partnered with some of the leading manufacturers and industry organizations to bring you highly relevant training. In many cases, we are the only authorized training partner for these workshops. Classes are often presented in a variety of formats to increase access to this training.

These classes encompass core principles and today’s most relevant tech, taking you in-depth through the capabilities and functionality of complete camera systems. Popular classes focus on comprehensive training in specific gear, such as REDucation, Phantom Intensive, ARRI ALEXA Mini Bootcamp, Sony VENICE Bootcamp, and In-Depth: Canon C300 Mark II. We also offer specialized workshops like ZEISS Cine Lens Certification.

Going beyond the tools, these classes, taught by working professionals, are focused on the craft and business of cinema, including lighting, composition, audio, on-set techniques, proposals and budgets. We are pleased to partner on the East Coast edition of the ASC Master Class, a practical cinematography workshop taught by some of the world’s most accomplished DPs.

Our digital filmmaking foundations classes cover subjects essential to the digital cinema camera crew, including roles and responsibilities around the camera, and on-set workflows. Gain indispensable knowledge to stay current at any level, whether it's learning digital imaging foundations, the ins and outs of particular on-set tools, or the skills needed to be effective as an AC, DIT or engineer.

Our movement workshops enable you to accomplish creative camera moves while safely operating a variety of image stabilization rigs, gimbals, underwater, and aerial devices. We offer official Steadicam Bronze and Steadicam Silver workshops several times a year in all our locations, and we also teach classes on rigs from Freefly, DJI, and others.

From Resolve for DPs to master classes with Dado Valentic and the ICA, our color and post workshops teach practical knowledge of color science and color management for students at any level of experience. Learn emerging industry processes like ACES and HDR grading from our experienced in-house and affiliate instructors.

I have taken several of the digital cinema camera classes to bring my skill level up substantially.... Learning the theory of the science is very important for me. AbelCine explains it all thoroughly.... Next to on the job learning, it's better than any film school could possibly offer and at much less the cost.
