Overview

Join us on Tuesday, May 5 for our next virtual Creative Forces! This FREE event will feature producer Tim Wu and cinematographer Nona Catusanu-Popp who will discuss their experiences working together as a DP-Producer team both on narrative and commercial projects, as well as how they got started in the industry and what inspires them in their creative choices. The event will be moderated by Jeff Lee, AbelCine Director of Education, with time for Q&A throughout.

Tim Wu is the cofounder of the bi-coastal production company Illium Pictures and serves as the company’s Executive Producer, overseeing its commercial and narrative productions. Since beginning Illium Pictures in 2012, he and partners Natasha Kermani and James Herron have grown Illium’s commercial clientele to include Google, Conde Nast Entertainment, The New York Times, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Maybelline, Microsoft and many more.

On the narrative end, Tim's work includes Imitation Girl (Frightfest 2017), which was acquired for distribution by Epic Pictures, and Program (NYFF 2018, HBO Latino FF 2018), which was acquired for distribution by Gunpowder & Sky. His development work on Expatriateshelped the film become a finalist for AT&T / Tribeca Film Institute’s 2019 Untold Stories Program. He is also an Executive Producer on the feature film Lucky, which was slated to premiere at SXSW 2020.

An alumni of NYU’s Tisch Film & Television Program, Tim is also a member of the IATSE Local 600 Camera Union and Society of Camera Operators. See more of his work at www.illiumpictures.com.

Nona Catusanu-Popp is a cinematographer, visual artist, and director. Born in Romania and raised in NYC, she graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a Bachelor’s degree in Film and TV and went on to study in the Cinematography Master’s Program at The Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) in the Czech Republic.
