These morning mixers take place every month, and focus on the latest technology as well as the craft of filmmaking, brought together over breakfast bagels, various schmears, and coffee. This is a great opportunity to meet up with your fellow creatives and experience emerging technology in a fun, unstructured setting.
Our next Gear & Schmear, on Thursday, September 20, will focus on Anton Bauer's new Dionic XT batteries. Additionally, this Gear & Schmear will feature the Sony VENICE and show off how the Dionic XTs can compliment your favorite camera rig. Specialists from Anton Bauer, Sony, and AbelCine will be on hand to answer questions.

This Week's Technology Focus
Anton Bauer Dionic XT Batteries
With a new look and form factor, the Dionic XT series of batteries feature a stronger case made with a new polymer, which has been bonded and screwed shut for impact and penetration resistance. They are water resistant and can stand up to light rain or mist long enough for you to get your gear out of the elements. New cells and new cell management have increased the life span of these batteries by around 50 percent. On the side of the case, you will find a P-Tap port and a two-amp USB power output. The display window on the side features an easy-to-read backlight, which provides battery capacity as well as runtime once your equipment begins drawing power. A new diagnostic mode provides pack voltage, amperage or watt draw information, cell pack temperature and other useful information.
The Dionic XTs are available in Anton Bauer Gold Mount and V-Mount options, and they work with both legacy Anton Bauer chargers as well as a large number of third party chargers.

Sony VENICE
The new flagship of Sony's CineAlta family, the Sony VENICE CineAlta 6K Digital Cinema Camera (6K with 6048x4032*), offers an interchangeable PL or E-Mount, built-in filters in 8-stages, 15 stops of exposure latitude, a wide color gamut and improved color management system. VENICE's compact form factor suits gimbal, aerial, handheld, and studio setups. The Sony VENICE also boasts a 24.7MP Full Frame CMOS sensor with a maximum resolution of 6048 x 4032*. (*NOTE: Firmware upgrade required for 6K.)
