SNS and NewTek recently announced the compatibility of their flagship products - the SNS EVO server and NewTek's TriCaster and 3Play. With this combination, EVO expands the storage and workflow possibilities of the NewTek products.

Yesterday, Freefly Systems released the latest firmware (v3.08) for the MōVI family, which adds a few significant features and important bug fixes. The feature I'm looking forward to the most is the added support for the optional MōVI Controller, which can be used in lieu of the standard wireless controller, and lets users make tuning adjustments directly from the unit, no computer or tablet required.

Apple just released Final Cut Pro 10.1.2, which has a host of new features including improved media management tools, Rec709 LUT support for Log footage (Arri, Sony, Canon, and Blackmagic cameras), 3DLUT support for the Arri AMIRA, and support for their new ProRes 4444 XQ codec.

One of the most important features of the new Arri AMIRA is its ability to load 3D LUTs (Look Up Tables), which really allows you to modify the way the camera looks. The ALEXA allows for basic LUTs with ASC CDL adjustments, but the AMIRA goes a step beyond that to allow for full customization of the image.

Little by little, update by update, Blackmagic Design has been adding editing features to their popular DaVinci Resolve color grading software. With the newest version, Resolve 11, they've fully committed to providing a single platform from which users can color correct, edit, finish, and deliver.

Well, here's some good news for those of you who are curious about the new AMIRA - Arri recently released the first version of their AMIRA simulator.

Canon has just announced the newest addition to its Cinema Lens lineup, the Cine-Servo CN7x17 KAS S, and we were lucky enough to spend some time it. While sharing the naming convention of a traditional ENG lens, this new 4K Super35 lens shares the same heritage as the popular Cinema Zooms with a versatile 17mm - 120mm (T2.95-3.9) range.

Today Fujinon introduced the newest member of their popular Cabrio family of lenses; the all-purpose Premier PL 25-300mm (ZK12x25).While not as lightweight as the other Cabrios, the versatile 12x zoom ratio and constant aperture of T3.5 from 25-273mm (gradual ramp to T3.85 from 274-300mm) will surely feel at home on any set and compliments the existing lenses.

Sony has just announced that they will be adding two new codecs to the F5 and F55 cameras: Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD.
