I count myself among the many motion shooters who are also committed still photographers. Whether for location or tech scouting, BTS (behind the scenes), a fine art photography practice, or all of the above, many DPs, operators, and other production crew carry a capable camera dedicated to still photography as part of their regular kit. Since about the beginning of 2019, for me that camera has been Canon's first full format mirrorless camera, the EOS R.

ARRI now has a line of FSND filters, which stands for Full Spectrum Neutral Density. You might be thinking: there are many choices for ND filters, so what makes these filters unique? Typically, filters are composed of two pieces of optical glass with filtration sandwiched between them. For these filters, ARRI applies the filtration directly to the surface of high-quality optical glass. They are then coated with a protective surface that helps prevent scratching and makes for quick cleaning.

Often when working on a commercial, corporate video, or industrial video, we make a last minute call to add more cameras. Has that ever happened to you? The Sony VENICE has been out for a while now and has quickly become a popular camera for feature films, television series, and a wide range of other applications. The VENICE produces great looking images, as it should, and it also offers a very good post workflow. Sony has been improving their workflows for years, and after many iterations, they really nailed it down in the F55. The VENICE builds on this even more and does a great job of keeping things simple.

Today ARRI announced a brand new camera in their popular ALEXA lineup. The ALEXA Mini LF is the companion camera to the full-bodied ALEXA LF. This LF (large format) ALEXA Mini has the same 36 x 25mm 4.4K sensor as the ALEXA LF, but now in a much smaller form factor. The new camera has the same basic footprint as the ALEXA Mini, but with some significant differences.
