Ironclad is a team of storytellers and artists dedicated to bringing a creative vision to life. We've been working closely with them on a recent project of theirs, where they had some specific needs for their fast-paced shooting schedule.

While camera stabilization systems are not a new concept, every once in a while a system comes along that fundamentally alters the way we utilize camera movement in our work. A classic example of this would be when Garrett Brown introduced the world to the Steadicam in 1975, or with recent compact dollys innovations from Kessler Crane or MYT Works. Recently, we were introduced to a new system from Freefly Systems that opens up a new realm of possibilities for camera movement that breaks free from the established formula.

AbelCine worked with action cinematographer Jim Geduldick on a project to test an early release version of the new Phantom Miro M320S camera. Jim produced and directed a test shoot at Camp Woodward in Pennsylvania, which involved skateboarders, BMX, and dirt bike riders from all over the east coast. Camp Woodward is an amazing facility that began over thirty years ago and has helped define "extreme sports" for several generations since.

The Shed is a content studio based out of NYC that works with brands on every part of the content creation process from creative development through final delivery. With a focus on both documentary-style commercial work and tabletop content, and a dedicated 2,500 square foot studio space, they've worked closely with AbelCine for their sales and service needs.

Red Bull Media House is no stranger to epic footage. In one of their recent videos, Chain Reaction (which you can watch above), Director Nicholas Schrunk and his team had to find a way to capture multiple, specifically-timed stunts on a tight shooting schedule and in a remote location.

Get a closer look at the making of Police Dive, a short documentary directed and filmed by Teresa Carante, one of our 2024 Fresh Perspectives in Cinematography grantees. Police Dive focuses on Sergeant Mike Berry, one of the world's leading underwater investigators. Based at the Virginia State Police and with over 40 years of experience as a public safety diver, Sgt. Berry has pioneered innovative retrieval techniques and managed high-stakes diving investigations across the globe.

In his new short film, Salience, filmmaker Paul Trillo explores the theme of visibility. Paul and his team used the Phantom Miro camera to capture body-suited figures (rendered transparent in post) becoming visible through contact with bursts of colored powder. Netflix's The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox is a documentary series that gets up close and personal with the 2024 Red Sox, following the ups and downs of a roller-coaster season. As the first major project to shoot with the Sony BURANO, we sat down with Director of Photography Terry Zumalt and his long-time First AC Devin Keebler, to discuss in more detail.

Lensed by 2023 Fresh Perspectives grantee Junior Pereira, Not Afraid focuses on a young Native woman dealing with the tragic disappearance of her sister. Now that the film is available to stream on YouTube, Junior shared some insights on his experience shooting the film, as well as working with the ARRI ALEXA 35.
