Today Sony announced the new AXS-R7 Raw Recorder for the F5 & F55 cameras. The new AXS-R7 is a robust new dual-slot Raw recorder that enables recording up to 120 fps in 4K on the F55.

Sony's CBKZ-55FX upgrade license enables the PMW-F5 to record and playback 4K, effectively doubling the camera's resolution. It also adds 4K quad-SDI and HDMI output, as well as simultaneous recording of XAVC at 4K and MPEG 50Mbps 422 in HD.

The Sony FS7 camera is shipping in quantity now, and we've had a lot of requests for some of our custom scene files. We've put together five files in our usual flavors, along with new matching files for the Sony F5.

To kick off the weekend, Sony has released their new firmware 5.0 for the PMW-F5 and PMW-F55.

It's a great feature that many people are excited about, but a common question that pops up is, "Why can't I use LUTs when shooting in the HFR mode?" LUTs can definitely make your life easier when shooting in S-Log, so Alister Chapman has found an interesting workaround over on XDCam-User.

In the latest firmware version 4.0 for the F5/F55, Sony added the ability to load custom 3D LUTs. This enables you to see the look you want on set while recording in Raw or Log. Many have been asking about this feature for some time now, and Sony has now made it available.

We've recently received a number of calls asking about the functionality of the OptiTek Mark II on Sony cameras (F3/F5/F55). In today's Quick Tip, I will take you through the steps to get the adapter up and running.

Several months ago, Sony released a new user-changeable 2K optical low pass filter for their F5 and F55 cameras. The filters are incredibly easy to swap out by loosening just a single Philips screw in the upper right hand corner (yellow arrow in first picture above) of the filter. Simply slide the 4K filter to the right, and pull it away from the camera. The 2K filter then snaps right in, slides to the right, and is held in place with the same Philips screw.

Sony has just announced that they will be adding two new codecs to the F5 and F55 cameras: Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD.
