IBC 2018: Canon XF705

While the industry has shifted focus towards cameras with S35 (or larger) sensors with interchangable lens mounts, many shooting situations benefit from a large zoom ratio and compact design. The Canon XF family was just updated with the introduction of the XF705, a compact 4K UHD camera with a 15x "L" series zoom lens with 5-axis optical image stabilization.

The XF705 is capable of 4:2:2, 10-bit recording utlizing a new H.265/HEVC codec up to 60 fps in UHD or 120 fps in HD to standard SD cards. The XF-HEVC codec allows for the more effecient use of the 110 Mbps data rate, providing excellent image quality with managable file sizes. The XF705 also includes Canon's Dual Pixel Autofocus, as well as full support for HDR recording. I spoke to Canon Product Specialist Paul Atkinson about the new camera, so watch the video above to learn more. Plus, make sure to check out Newsshooter's blog for more close-up images of the XF705.
