NAB 2018: Cooke s7/i Primes

From the AbelCine booth at NAB 2018, join me for a look at Cooke's new large image circle lenses, the S7/i line, which bring the Cooke Look to full format cameras.

The S7/i set is composed of 12 lenses, including the new 16mm, 21mm, 27mm, and 65mm focal lengths, making this one of the most complete lines available for full format camera systems. The S7/i lenses match the S4/i line in terms of front diameter (110mm) providing compatability with matte boxes and other accessories. With a 46.31mm image circle, these lenses will cover from Super 35 all the way to RED's 8K VV sensor (as well as the other full format cameras featured in our booth at NAB 2018). Sharing the award winning cam-and-follower style focusing mechanism with Cooke's other lenses, the S7/i lenses also feature consistently spaced geared iris and focus rings and a 9-blade aperture for smooth (and circular, in case you were wondering, unlike some of Cooke's past lenses) out-of-focus highlight rendering. As with all Cooke "/i" lenses, rich metadata can be transmitted either through contacts on the PL mount or via a 4-pin Lemo connector near the iris ring.

These lenses are T2 and are designed to give maximum performance at wide open. They do have the known Cooke Look and are color-balanced and color-matched to the Cooke S4/i, mini S4/i, Anamorphic/i, and PANCHRO/i.

Watch the video above to hear more about these lenses featured at our booth this year.
