Panasonic held a private technical presentation at NAB where they explained their sensor technology. Adam Wilt from DV Info Net was able to attend this session and posted a great article and slides from the presentation. Two sections of particular interest are on how their Dual Native ISO modes work and how wide their V-Gamut color gamut is.

Sony has announced a new firmware update to the FS7 that will be available free of charge on March 15. Arri just announced the latest addition to the ALEXA family, the all new ALEXA Mini. Coming in at a svelte 7.3" x 4.9" x 5.5" (LxWxH) and weighing only 5 pounds, the Mini compliments the series with the same S35 ALEV III CMOS sensor found in the ALEXA and AMIRA. Utilizing a carbon body with titanium lens mount attached directly to the titanium sensor mount, the Mini shares the same PL, EF and B4 bayonet lens mounts, as well as the same MVF-1 viewfinder as the AMIRA.

Panasonic has just released new firmware for the VariCam 35 and HS cameras. This update includes some of the most anticipated features for these new cameras, and it's completely free.

To kick off the weekend, Sony has released their new firmware 5.0 for the PMW-F5 and PMW-F55.

Convergent Design has just announced the new Odyssey7Q+, the replacement for the popular Odyssey7Q recorder. While the main feature set remains identical, the 7Q+ adds an HDMI 1.4b input for additional frame rate and resolution capabilities.

The Panasonic P2 memory format has an impressive legacy. It was the first, widely available, professional solid-state media format for cameras. Panasonic took a bold leap introducing this new 'tapeless' format back in 2004, and it caused quite a stir.
