Panasonic EVA1 Camera Lens & Accessory Guide

Our lens and accessory guide for the Panasonic AU-EVA1 Camera breaks down some of the essential gear that provides added functionality and support for this already impressive camera.

CANON LENSES

These EF mount Canon lenses feature lightweight and compact designs, with outstanding contrast, color fidelity, and overall optical performance. The Cinema Primes feature an 11-blade iris producing an attractive bokeh, with the odd number of blades helping to reduce flaring of specular highlights. All Canon Cinema Primes feature unified front lens diameters (114mm) and gear positioning on the focus and iris rings, making lens changes quick and convenient.

The Canon 18-80mm and 70-200mm Compact Servo Zooms provide full external servo control over zoom, focus, and iris. Both feature a T4.4 maximum aperture, 9-blade iris, and multiple levels of Image Stabilization, and support autofocus.

ZEISS LENSES

Choose the EF mount option to use these ZEISS lenses with your EVA1 cinema camera. All CP.3 lenses offer a combination of high image quality and reliable usability, with interchangeable mounts, improved mechanics, and full format coverage. These prime lenses are available à la carte, or in multi-lens sets.

The ZEISS 21-100mm T2.9-3.9 lightweight zoom lens is an ideal match for projects also using CP.2, CP.3, Ultra Prime and Master Prime lenses as well as the brand new full format Supreme Primes. A sophisticated lens design results in a tremendously lightweight form factor that does not sacrifice outstanding ZEISS optical performance. Your shots will stand out with pin-sharp structures, vibrant colors and high contrast. Nicely shaped out-of-focus highlights, also called bokeh, and focus roll-off produce the decidely cinematic look and feel. The focus is stable over the entire focal length range, with no image shift (called "breathing," common with still photo lenses) when racking focus.

OTHER LENSES & MOUNT ADAPTERS

The key to using lenses that do not natively feature an EF mount, such as the Angenieux EZ-1 30-90mm Standard Zoom, is a reliable mount adapter like the Angénieux EZ Series Lens EF Mount. Once adapted to the EVA1, the EZ-1 30-90mm Zoom provides a fast T2.0 maximum aperture across the zoom range with no ramping, an interchangeable rear optical group for full format compatibility (also referred to as "full frame" or VistaVision), and a compact form factor weighing just 4.7 lb (2.15 kg).

SUPPORT ACCESSORIES

A variety of accessories are available for the EVA1 to help meet your camera configuration needs. For shoulder-mounted cinema operation, you can use the ARRI Pro Set for Panasonic EVA1. Or for a "run-and-gun" viewfinder solution, try the Zacuto EVA1 Gratical Eye Bundle. Selecting the ideal rig for your camera has never been easier, with various modular base plates, top plates, mounting brackets, and handgrip extensions available.

MONITOR/RECORDERS & ELECTRONIC VIEWFINDERS

While the EVA1 does not include an onboard electronic viewfinder, it does feature an integrated LCD monitor. For users requiring a larger or higher resolution onboard monitor or external recorder, AbelCine offers the Panasonic EVA1 + ATOMOS Shogun Inferno 7” ProRes RAW Bundle allowing you to take full advantage of the exciting new ProRes RAW format. The Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q+ 7.7” OLED Monitor/Recorder is also available, supporting a wide range of ProRes and other recording formats.

A variety of exceptional monitors/recorders, EVFs and mounting solutions are also available, addressing the needs and preferences of camera operators at every level of production.

MEDIA

All digital cinema cameras rely on high capacity, dependable recording media to capture the best shot at the right moment, and the Panasonic EVA1 is no exception. Unlike many other cameras, the EVA1 records to readily-available SD cards in several formats and compression rates, while still offering up to 10-bit 4:2:2 recording, even at 4K resolution. The following media options provide rugged reliability and exceptionally fast data rates.

POWER

Power your EVA1 camera with Panasonic's own Pro Grade batteries and charger for a compact, lightweight solution. Or choose a 3rd party accessory to enable use of industry standard Gold or V-Mount onboard batteries and chargers for larger battery capacities and accessory power options. Dissipating just 19W, this camera is exceptionally power efficient, providing the user with increased operating time.

AUDIO & ADDITIONAL ACCESSORIES

Recording audio in the field can be a challenge. For your convenience, the Panasonic EVA1 features an integrated stereo microphone located above the lens, ideal for recording scratch audio. It is important to note that, due to its location, this mic may pick up lens movement noises. Fortunately, there are a range of external microphones for many different scenarios.

Other accessories, which greatly simplify and/or optimize camera operation on set or in the field, are also available, as well as cases and rain covers to protect your valuable equipment in storage, during transit, or on set.
