Freefly’s latest handheld gimbal stabilizer, the MoVI Pro, has been rebuilt from the ground up to improve upon almost every aspect of the original family of MoVIs. There is very little on the system that has not been given the deluxe treatment; from the integrated tuning stand by way of the ring with attached feet, to the dual battery system allowing hot-swapability.

I met with Alan and Brian of Freefly Systems to discuss their new MoVI Pro as well as other recent product announcements. The new MoVI Pro features a number of improvements over the original MoVI family, including hot swappable batteries and an integrated stand to allow for all day shooting with minimal downtime.

In this Tech Talk, Alan Yates and Justin Brown from Freefly stopped by our booth to show off the new ALTA 8 UAV. The ALTA 8 octocopter is a ready-to-fly system, capable of carrying payloads of up to 20 pounds.

Freefly Systems has released the beta version of its latest firmware update, nicknamed Akira. This firmware makes extensive updates to MōVI performance and functionality. Three major updates included in Akira are HiPER Stabilization, Timelapse Mode, and Target Mode.

One of the biggest crowd pleasers at the AbelCine booth this year was the Freefly MIMIC, especially as attendees saw how intuitively it controlled camera framing.

Today Ian and I spoke to Pierre Davezac, President and Founder of Exhauss, about the new Exhauss Exoskeleton, a gimbal support system designed to help take the weight off the operator and redistribute it over the core section of their body.

Freefly Systems revealed some big news today: they've dropped prices on their popular MōVI M5 and M10 stabilizers, and released pricing info on the new M15. Freefly has definitely experienced some rapid growth during the last few years, and they've taken advantage of improved efficiency in their manufacturing process to pass these savings to the customers.

Yesterday, Freefly Systems released the latest firmware (v3.08) for the MōVI family, which adds a few significant features and important bug fixes. The feature I'm looking forward to the most is the added support for the optional MōVI Controller, which can be used in lieu of the standard wireless controller, and lets users make tuning adjustments directly from the unit, no computer or tablet required.

Freefly Systems has unveiled the newest MōVI system, the M15. In addition to supporting camera packages up to 15 pounds, the M15's larger sled permits you to use longer camera bodies like the Sony F5/F55 and Arri ALEXA M, or longer lenses on a myriad of camera bodies.
