In keeping with our long-standing tradition, AbelCine has released our standard suite of scene files for the Sony PXW-FX9. The names of these scene files will be familiar to anyone who has been downloading and using them with other popular cameras over the years. We have done our best to keep the looks faithful to the original files created some 15 years ago.

In our tradition of providing scene files for the latest professional cinema cameras, we have created a collection of scene files for the Sony PXW-FX9. These files are based on the looks AbelCine has been creating for many years and are designed to fit a variety of common shooting scenarios.

Many will remember the excitement surrounding Canon’s release, in March 2010, of a firmware update for the 5D Mark II which added 24p to the camera’s already ground-breaking video mode (the 5D Mark II was the first “full-frame” DSLR with 1080p video recording). This mid-lifecycle enhancement is perhaps most responsible for igniting the DSLR video revolution.

The Sony FS7 II is now shipping, and many of you have asked about our custom scene files. While it has the same sensor as it’s predecessor, the FS7 II has a different scene file structure; scene files from an original FS7 cannot be directly uploaded into a FS7 II. Thus, we recreated our popular scene files for the FS7 II and compiled them in this blog post.

Today we’re here with Greg Smokler of Teradek to talk about their latest LUT box, the COLR Duo. The Duo is an upgraded version of the previous COLR, now sporting two, independent 3G-SDI outputs each capable of displaying their own 33x33x33 sided cube LUTs.

Panasonic's VariCam cameras are capable of capturing a wide dynamic range. In order to do this, Panasonic has their own Log recording codec, V-Log. V-Log is a gamma response designed to capture the full dynamic range off the sensor.

Canon's newest firmware update (1.0.4.1.00) for their C300 Mark II camera contains a number of nice improvements to the camera's features and functionality. One of the updates that caught our eye is the inclusion of a new logarithmic gamma curve, Canon Log 3, available from the Custom Picture menu.
